스페이스 윌링앤딜링에서는 2017년 8월 11부터 8월 31일까지 최승훈 작가와 이혁 건축가의 2인전 <CONSTRUCT>를 진행한다. 이번 전시에서 최승훈 작가와 이혁 건축가는 건설과정에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 흰 벽, 비계, 안전망 등의 요소를 이용한 공간 설치작업을 선보인다. 이혁 건축가는 일상의 건축공간을 석고로 재구성하면서 건축물 공사장에서 분진과 추락방지 보호망으로 사용되는 칼라 가림막과 조명을 결합한 구조물로 공간 설치작업을 시도하는 동시에 최승훈 작가는 공사 중인 건축물을 촬영한 사진들을 이용한 이미지 설치작업과 최승훈+이혁의 작품 이미지를 이용한 200권의 소책자 형식의 콜라주 작업도 함께 선보일 예정이다.
본 전시는 시각예술 작가인 최승훈 작가와 건축가 이혁의 협업으로 만들어지는 공간으로서의 구현이다. 최승훈 작가는 사진 작업으로 평면화된 공간의 시각 이미지를 제시하고 이에 반응하는 이혁 건축가는 실제의 물질을 다루면서 상호 대화와 협의를 통해 서서히 드러나는 과정에 대한 작품이라고 할 수 있다. 이를 통하여 하나의 현상에 대한 시각예술가와 건축가 간의 서로 다른 관심과 관점, 그리고 그에 대한 접근법과 표현법의 차이 등 시각적 실험을 경험해 볼 수 있다. 또한 이 과정에서 설치되는 조명의 역할은 공간 전체의 효과를 극대화 시키며 관객들에게 공간과 이미지, 그리고 이미지를 조합하고 있는 원래의 물질적 감촉 등을 새로운 방식으로 전해주는 매개로서 작용하고 있다.
Space: Willing N Dealing presents two person exhibition <CONSTRUCT> from the 11th to 31st of August, 2017. Participating artists are Choi Sunghun and Rhee Hyuek. Artist Choi Sunghun and an architect Rhee Hyuek presents space installation works using elements such as white wall, scaffolding, safety nets which are common in the construction process. Rhee is trying to reconstruct ordinary building with gypsum. Moreover, he combines the color screen and lighting used as dust and fall prevention at the construction site for the installation. Choi’s photograph of the buildings that are under construction will be exhibited. Also, there will be 200 booklet type collage works using installation images and Choi’s photographs.
This exhibition is the space of realization of Choi and Rhee’s collaboration. Choi presents flattened space image by photograph and Rhee responds to it by using actual materials from the construction site. This exhibition shows the process of mutual dialogue and consultation. Through this, one can experience different interests and perspectives between a visual artist and an architect about one phenomenon, and difference between approaching one subject and expression method. In addition, the lighting installed in this exhibition space maximizes the visual effect, and helps to combine space, image, and original material’s sense of touch to the audience in a new way.
