전시소개
스페이스 윌링앤딜링은 8월 27일부터 9월 15일까지 박노완 개인전 <사람 얼룩>을 개최한다. 박노완 작가는 홍익대학교 회화과를 졸업하고 2021년 현재 서울과학기술대학교 조형예술학과 석사과정을 수료하였다. 2018년 <싱거운 제스처들(가변크기)>의 개인전과 2020년 원앤제이 갤러리와 스페이스 윌링앤딜링, 갤러리SP, 어쩌다 갤러리2 등에서의 그룹전에 초대되어 새로운 형식의 회화 방법론을 선보여왔다.
박노완은 수채 물감을 주재료로 한 회화 작업을 한다. 아라비아 고무를 섞어서 수채 물감 특유의 얇은 발림 대신 밀도감이 강하며 마티에르가 자연스럽게 만들어지며 독창적인 채색 형식을 보여주고 있다. 바르고 긁어내고 문지르는 등 붓의 사용 이외에도 다양한 도구로 표면을 다루면서 이미지의 형상 보다는 이미지가 가지고 있는 감각적 느낌을 최대한 표현한다. 평범한 대상 속에 내제된 독특한 감성을 찾아내는 박노완 작가 특유의 시선은 일상에서 마주하는 오브제나 인물 등의 잠재된 유머러스한 감성을 끄집어낸다.
이번 전시 <사람 얼룩>은 주로 인간 형상으로부터 박노완 작가의 캔버스로 옮겨진 이미지는 형상이나 묘사에 충실하지 않으면서 대상이 가지고 있는 인상에 보다 주목하고 있다. 대형 회화 속에 가득 채워진 인물의 형상은 그림자 같기도, 빛바랜 기억 같기도 한 인상을 남기면서 점차 추상적 이미지로 향하고 있다. 표면에서 드러나는 재료의 물질감이 더욱 드러나면서 회화성에 집중하고자 하는 작가의 독특한 작업 세계를 만끽할 수 있을 것이다.
Park Noh-wan works on painting based on watercolors. Mixing Arabian rubber, it has a strong density instead of thin application unique to watercolors, and Matier is naturally made, showing a unique coloring format. In addition to the use of brushes such as applying, scratching, and rubbing, the surface is handled with various tools to express the sensuous feeling of the image as much as possible rather than the shape of the image. Park Noh-wan's gaze, which finds unique sensibilities embedded in ordinary objects, brings out latent humorous sensibilities such as objects and characters that he faces in his daily life.
The exhibition "Human Stain" mainly focuses more on the impression of the object while not being faithful to the image or description of the artist Park's canvas. The huge figure filled with large canvas is gradually changing toward abstract image, remaining an impression that it is like a shadow or a faded memory. You will be able to enjoy the unique world of work by the artist who wants to focus on the potential of the painting from the material which are revealed from its surface.
