Space Willing N Dealing presents at the point, a solo exhibition by Son Jihyeong, on view from August 29 to September 24, 2026. Presented in collaboration with mk2, known for its collection of vintage furniture primarily from the European Bauhaus era, the exhibition brings together painting, furniture, and space to create a new sensory environment through their interplay. Functional furniture is placed alongside paintings throughout the gallery, forming an integrated setting in which artworks and their surroundings enter into an organic relationship.

In at the point, Son turns her attention to the “point (particle),” one of the most fundamental formal elements of painting, and to the “moment (color)” of the subject that it captures. The exhibition title emerged from the artist’s encounter with the furniture in the mk2 showroom and from imagining how her paintings might coexist with these objects within a shared space.

Son has long observed nature—plants in particular—with a sustained focus on the colors at work within it. Tracing the process through which particles of color gather to form an image, she gradually arrived at the idea that form is, in itself, color. In these new works, rather than reproducing recognizable forms, Son brings color to the foreground as the most essential element constituting the pictorial surface. Each painting is constructed around its own distinctive chromatic sensibility, while color functions not as a means of describing form, but as a presence in itself and as a fundamental unit of perception.

By boldly stripping away concrete forms and filling the pictorial surface solely through the relationship between color and material, Son opens the work to the viewer’s own associations and interpretations of what its subject might be. at the point invites viewers to linger at the points of contact between color and material, painting and furniture, and the spaces in between, offering a moment to experience the contemplative and sensory possibilities that color unfolds.
